Outeniqua Orchids, orchid nursery in George, Garden Route
Outeniqua Orchids is a nursery specialising in exotic orchid plants obtained from all over the world. We are the ‘All of Africa’ Agent for Carter and Holmes Orchids in Newberry, South Carolina, U.S.A. and we import from them on a regular basis. We are situated at no. 34, Napier Street, Blanco, George in the Western Cape. The Nursery owner and grower is Elsa Hall who previously owned Stellenkloof Orchids outside Stellenbosch.
We select plants of superior breeding to be used for show and judging purposes. If you are looking for that special plant to win at your local orchid show, we are the nursery to supply you. Mail order of non-blooming orchid plants throughout South Africa is the backbone of our business and orchids are packed and sent by Postnet or Dawn Wing Couriers on a Monday and Tuesday each week.
Weddings are a speciality of ours and we supply Phalaenopsis plants in bloom which can either be collected on the farm or sent directly to the door.
The nursery is open every Wednesday, even if it is a Public Holiday, from 10am until 1pm. You are welcome to wander through the greenhouse at your leisure. We are happy to give advice and will also repot plants at a nominal fee per plant. There is always something in bloom for sale. We love having people to visit so make a plan to come to the Orchid Nursery on your next trip to the wonderful Garden Route. I am also happy to give talks to small groups of interested people and to show them the orchids in the greenhouse.
