Set on the slopes of the Great Drakenstein Mountain range the Rupert Wines Estate comprises two historic wine farms: L’Ormarins and Anthonij Rupert Estate. 

Today the Estate houses two tasting rooms, four state-of-the-art cellars, a lovingly tended rose garden, vineyards, the Franschhoek Motor Museum and the Drakenstein Stud Farm. Thus offering up a great variety of things to do and see at the Rupert Wines Estate.

Rupert Wine Estate Experience

Visitors to Anthonij Rupert and L’Ormarins Estates are able to purchase an ‘all in one’ voucher, to keep them entertained for the whole day.

For ease of convenience, Estate package vouchers can be purchased in advance or at any one of the visitors’ points on the property. From here your tour begins and the voucher is simply handed in at each point.

With the Estate’s tram service operating between points, visitors can spend as much time in each point as they wish before moving on to the next point, catering both to travellers at leisure as well as those with a schedule to keep.

Visitors should however allow a minimum of 3 hours for the total package in order to enjoy it all.

Perfect for tour groups, company incentive groups, team building outings, treating someone to a special outing or simply a day out in Franschhoek with a group of friends.

Tasting Rooms at Rupert Wines

Terra Del Capo Antipasti Bar

Book a table at our antipasti bar and enjoy a delicious selection of dishes prepared from local artisanal produce. Our menu is composed of a delicious selection of antipasti plates, and local Estate produce as well local Winelands produce are strongly featured. Enjoy our full range of wines, at our cellar door price.

Terra Del Capo Tasting Room

The tasting room has a mezzanine tasting lounge with views of the estate and the bottling line, so you can see some of the cellar action. Tastings are presented in a relaxed interactive style, with multiple tasting options and pairings featuring Protea, Terra del Capo, and L’Ormarins wine ranges.

Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room

Tailored wine tastings of our L’Ormarins, Cape of Good Hope, and Anthonij Rupert wine ranges are offered here. The house is furnished throughout in the mid-nineteenth century Cape Dutch style, with beautiful wood beam ceilings, yellowwood floors, and spacious entertainment areas. 

The front rooms open onto a veranda with stunning views of the Franschhoek Wine Valley, while the back porch overlooks a rose garden and the Groot Drakenstein Mountains.

Wine Pairings at Rupert Wines

Italian Cheese & Wine:  Indulge the senses with a delectable Italian Cheese and Wine Tasting at the Terra del Capo Tasting Room. This interactive, fun and educational tasting is presented by one of our Tasting Room assistants, who will take you through the tasting, sharing information about how the cheeses have been made and their places of origin, as well as how they best pair with a selection of wines.

Nougat & MCC:  Breaking with tradition the estate’s three L’Ormarins Méthode Cap Classiques (MCC) have each been paired with handcrafted artisanal nougat, which perfectly complements the wines as well as showcasing their versatility as a partner to food.

Shiraz & Charcuterie:  Charcuterie’s salty, aromatic flavours and sweet, rich fattiness are naturally complemented by the typically bright acidity, bold fruitiness, and spiciness of outstanding Shiraz wines – a partnership which this tasting experience aims to highlight.

Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room: Monday – Saturday, 10h00 – 16h30.
